Regional Small Business Development Program
The Port of Seattle, through the Office of Social Responsibility, has joined the Regional Small Business Development Program. Partnering with the Seattle Public Schools, City of Seattle, Sound Transit, WA Dept. of Transportaion, and many community sponsors, the program's purpose is to help small businesses overcome the barriers that prevent them from growing through business education classes, individual coaching, and contracting opportunities. While the program does not guarantee contracts, partners provide forecasts, and in many cases, agencies identify work that can be bid on by program participants. The program is primarily designed for companies with revenues under $1 million. Message from the CEO
It is my vision that the Port be a beacon of social responsibility in every aspect of its business practices. I established our new Office of Social Responsibility earlier this year, with a vision of success like the one I established as CEO at the Port of Oakland. I fully support equal access and opportunity for our many qualified small businesses to work with the Port, which will contribute to the economic vitality of our organization and the entire region. I look forward to other great opportunities to foster programs and initiatives that align with our social responsibility goals.
RFP Workshop On September 10, 2008, at Sea-Tac Airport, the Port hosted the 2nd "Winning The Competitive RFP Process" Workshop. The workshop focused on small businesses in the Goods and Services field. Watch this newsletter for more workshop opportunities.
